hanging with my sister there and Shannan here…

See this beautiful woman?  She is my in-real-life sister, Gabrielle… wife of 17 years to David, mother of 5, blogger, photographer, grace giver, Jesus lover, and incredible homemaker.  Seriously, she can do a home!

Sometimes family includes obligation.  Whether by obligation or in love, my sister is willingly hosting a stop on the virtual book tour and I am extremely grateful!   Sometimes it’s the encouragement of one that makes all the difference in our lives…

With a trembling heart I clicked “send” on the email. Over the miles I sent her a piece of my heart written in story form.  A story raw with my pain and filled with my memories. Though she knew how the story ended, she read words that I hadn’t shared with anyone else… ever.

I waited anxiously for her reply. Though I have known all her life and 95% of mine, our relationship hasn’t been a smooth one. Sisters are sometimes like that. Regardless, she easily makes my list of the top 10 influencers in my life. It was her opinion that I desperately craved because I knew no other person would be as honest with me.

When her response came, my eyes leaked. …

Click on over to Gabe’s blog and read the rest of the story.  Even though we are miles apart, I can just imagine that we’ll be sitting on her front porch.  Come on over….

… and, if you don’t want to travel that far, you can find me tucked into Shannan’s post today, too.  I’m so thankful for our blogging friendship that started over fabric hanger covers and spans just a few miles.  It was actually Gabe who introduced me to Shannan’s blog.  “She must live kind of close to you,” she said.  Sure enough.  Who knew that this incredible wife, mom, writer, blogger and grace liver lived in Northern Indiana?  I’m grateful for her willingness to be a stop on the virtual book tour and to help get the word out about the book signing next week.  I’d love for you to come on over to Shannan’s as well (fabulous recipe included!)…

  1. Hi from New Zealand. As I couldn’t wait for shipping I have bought the kindle edition but expect to buy a hard copy too. I heard about your book from your proud sister’s blog – I have always told my children that no matter what you will always have each other through thick and thin, and I think sister’s share an even stronger bond than I do with my brothers. It has just been one year since my breast cancer diagnosis so this book has really hit a nerve with me. I’m looking forward to reading it this weekend. Good luck, Catherine.

I'd love to know what you think...
