my very personal God…

I woke to this
and I smiled.

After a dismal display of winter
here in the midwest,
my God sent me this for my birthday!

As I write,
it’s still snowing.

I find it incredibly moving
that my God loves me this personally.

It’s been a weekend filled with personal blessings,
things that only I told only Him
have been given to me.

It’s humbling
and thrilling
all at the same time.

As I join in with the gratitude community at Ann’s today,
my list is long.

I only hope
I can find the words
to record some of that list

… for snow on my birthday
… and a God who knows this 44 year old heart best

… for a man who cheers loudest for me
… and pushes me outside the walls of this house

… for friends who pack out the classroom
… and make me look really good

… for being blessed with a ticket to a benefit dinner
… and later a ticket for my favorite date

… for feeling better
… and breathing easier

… for friends, long time and new, who came to say “hey”
… for books that came just in time

… for serving others with a long time friend
… and having fun along the way

… for those who downloaded books
… and spread the word

… for a day to spend with these I love the most
… and a God who loves me more than I will ever comprehend

  1. Happy Belated Birthday, Heidi! I’m with you. Snow on my birthday would be grand. I hope you are still celebrating in your heart today. When my friends or family apologize for late wishes, I always say, “But I like to keep celebrating, so bring it on!’ in other words, any day is a good day to celebrate God’s gift of life.
    Great post, by the way!

I'd love to know what you think...
