Last week was hard…
not just once.
Praise God, He’s the God of hard,
The God of “I don’t know!”
and the God of “I don’t know what I’m doing!”
He’s the God of grace
and second (or third, or three hundred and thirty-third) chances.
Yesterday, I realized that I was facing an evening
of all five of us together…
a time of all of mine gathering around the table.
As time marches on,
moments as such become rare…
On a whisper of the Spirit,
Monday supper became
a Sabbath celebration.
Time together…just us.
A few moments to affirm one another
and to love on each other.
And to laugh.
The wisest one once said
“For everything there is a season…
a time to cry and a time to laugh.”
Sometimes there are hard times and seasons
in families and in parenting…
sometimes all I can say is
I don’t know
and I don’t know!
Yet, my God knows.
He knows how to parent
and how to see me through.
And, He knows the balm
that soothes this mama’s heart…
all mine gathered round the table
with words of encouragement
seasoned with love and laughter.
